Graduation Coaches -- Register for a Special TIE Network Event!

Georgia Public Broadcasting’s (GPB) Technology in Education (TIE) Network is hosting a special regional event to recruit Metro-Atlanta Graduation Coaches to become members of the statewide network on Thursday, March 27 at the DeVry University Decatur Campus in Decatur, Ga.

Joining the TIE Network enables graduation coaches to share digital resources with their peers while also tapping into the expertise of existing TIE Network members. Targeted districts for the event are Atlanta Public Schools, Cherokee County, Clayton County, Cobb County, Coweta County, Decatur City Schools, DeKalb County, Douglas County, Fayette County, Forsyth County, Fulton County, Gwinnett County, Henry County, Marietta City Schools and Rockdale County.

Attendees have the opportunity to register for and explore free resources located on the TIE Network Web site, which includes a community blog and calendar, forum discussions, digitally-enhanced projects uploaded to the resource center, and the TIE Network wiki.

In addition to gaining knowledge about the TIE Network and its vast resources, attendees have the opportunity to learn about the DeVry University Scholarship, a yearly scholarship available to Georgia high schools; and Georgia Graduation Stories, a GPB project in collaboration with the Georgia Department of Education and Communities In Schools of Georgia.

Participants also receive the chance to win a FLIP Digital Video Camera for their school. This technology resource enables the lucky recipient to begin capturing video to document Georgia Graduation Stories as well as sharing original video footage with other members of the TIE Network.

To reserve a space, attendees must RSVP by 5:00 PM on Monday, March 24, 2008 to Scott Hennessy at jscotthennessy@gpb.org. Attendees should include first name, last name, school district and school in the RSVP email.
